Roundtable Cultural Seminars: Turning Points

This extension seminar will examine three historical turning points that help illustrate contemporary affairs. The events selected were both critical in their time and shaped the political culture that exists in 2020. Each section will discuss a key turning point, and then explore elements of continuity and change between the past and the present. We’ll end with a 10-15 minute session of Q&A.

Audio and video will be used.

1) The Kennedy Assassination (22 Nov. 1963)

2) Illinois Rejects the Equal Rights Amendment (30 Sept.1972)

3) Harvey Milk Leads Opposition to the Briggs Initiative (7 Nov. 1978)
